Sutphin Blvd.This short story was published in a compilation of 13 pieces set in the outerboroughs of New York by Whitefish/Midnight Mind Press. The book also was published as a special edition of Midnight Mind Magazine, Issue No. 6, in June 2003. 'Sutphin Blvd.' concerns Verda Mae MacGinest, a proud black woman in Queens, New York, who watches her daughter's life dissolve into a morasse of crack and prostitution in the late 1980s. The short story is the first chapter of Krajicek's novel "Poovey's Grove." |
